Playing The Fool

Being fooled doesn’t make you a fool. You only become a fool when you continuously fall for the same shit. The best way to trick a fool is to let the fool think that they’re tricking you. A truly intelligent person can pretend to be a fool in front of a fool who pretends to be intelligent. There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true. There are more fools in the world than there are people.

Sometimes you gotta play the role of a fool to the fool who thinks they are fooling you. 99.99% of fools deny their foolishness, the rest underestimate it. If you succeed in cheating someone, don’t think that the person is a fool (they usually are). Rather realize that the person trusted you much more than you deserved. A genius in the wrong position could look like a fool. A fool thinks he’s wise, but a wise man knows he’s a fool. In the end, they’re both fools. Young people think old people are fools. But the old people know the young people are fools.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the bird is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway. You see, arguing with a fool only proves that there are two. The greatest lesson in life is to know that even fools are right sometimes. So it’s good to be a bit patient, you might learn something on the fiftieth attempt. The person who writes for fools (me) is always sure of a large audience (you).

Only a fool trips on what is behind him. So everytime you trip on what is in front of you, remember that it is a mark of intelligence. Let us be thankful for fools. Without them, the rest of us could not succeed. It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you’re a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt. Wise men speak because they have something to say, fools speak because they have to say something.

If you hesitate you’re a damned fool. People here are funny. They work so hard at living they forget how to live. Fools throw caution to the wind. They rush in where even Angels fear to tread. And maybe that’s not such a bad thing. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool. Foolishness dear friend is art. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. Pick your poison.

It’s easy to believe someone when they’re telling you exactly what you want to hear. Tell me, does love make one a fool, or do only fools fall in love? They say love makes the wisest man a fool, and of the most foolish woman, a sage. Almost everybody is happy to be a fool for love. If love doesn’t make a fool of us, what will? We’re all fools all the time. It’s just we’re a different kind each day. A man who trusts everyone is a fool and a man who trusts no one is a fool. To every rule there is an exception—and an idiot ready to demonstrate it.

Don’t be the one!

  1. Jesus H Christ what a wild ride to read. Your perspective on things are always really insightful and interesting. I especially like the analogy of arguing with fools is like playing chess with a pigeon, it’s a really good point that many don’t even consider. Great post!
