Breaking The Rules

Breaking bad. I have two rules which I regard as principles of conduct. Rule number one; Have no rules. Rule two; Be independent of the opinion of others. I believe in rules. Sure I do. If there weren’t any rules, how could I break them? Good people don’t need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around these laws. Learn the rules, break the rules, make up new rules, break the new rules.

Siesta. As a kid I used to think, why do I have to observe my siesta? As a grown adult, I would love to have two to three siesta’s daily. You wouldn’t blame me though, it just so happened that our aunties sent us off to bed so they could watch “adult” movies in the living room. And I wasn’t having any of that. So we’d sneak into the parlor and hide behind the big couch to catch a full view of the TV.

Creatives. Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun. Breaking rules is indeed an important part of creativity. Innovation needs a level of guidance. You have a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. Why everytime something bad happens the women and the children have to be rescued first? Sometimes we should break the rules and get all the men out first. After all, we’re the superior gender.

Forgive quickly. There’s no need to stay mad at the one you love for a sustained period. You don’t make a point by frowning, you only end up giving yourself a headache and a few more wrinkles sweetheart. Personally, every day I give every one in my life a brand new slate for them to write how they want to be treated by me. Not gonna lie, a few people are on their last page after which I’ll cut them off for my sanity. No, I’m not mad at you, your presence in my life is upsetting the balance I’m trying to create.

You are remembered for the rules you break, not the rules you follow. Nobody forgets the boy who started the protest in the dining hall that the food students were being served was subpar. Yes, we littered the entire school with half-done beans, but it was fun while it lasted. The boring rule followers go under the radar and are forgotten along with their quiet existence. I saw a guy take a bite out of a KitKat bar without breaking it apart…Sir, we live in a society with rules!

Loving. It’s funny what love can do to a person. It strips them of everything, including their instincts. It creates a new reality for you to adhere to, a new world where you break the rules just to keep the love in tact. Break the rules, ignore your head, follow your heart. Love yourself, no physical appearance is worth not eating pasta for.

Life is short, break the rules. Love truly. Kiss slowly. Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that makes you smile. None of us is getting out of here alive. Tell the truth, break the rules, make mistakes, it’s your only chance. Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist. Do not read the next sentence.

You little rebel, I like you.

  1. “Good people don’t need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around these laws”. Common sense is within us, if we do not have a pinched conscience, everything proceeds well without thinking about it. This is the first prerequisite for being free. Thank you in your satire. pearls of wisdom.

This took me, tossed me around a little like a dog with a toy, and I landed on my arse. I actually don’t have the words to express how hard this hit me. I guess because it’s so simplistically true, but so hard to understand when you’re the one in the cold. And so easy to know, but so hard to adequately express to one you must let go. 🤔
But now I need an ice pack because I think I broke my tailbone 😉
