The craze of social media

Social media has made too many of you comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it. I’m not saying social media is a waste of time but I didn’t get my degree scrolling through Instagram. I was scrolling through Twitter (now X) instead.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, plus a social media overreaction. If stupid people did not exist, the Internet will be boring. Every now and then when I feel sad, I just go on TikTok and realize I have life more figured out than most.

I am on a social media break. Pinterest does not qualify as social media. It’s just awesomeness on a screen. An endless stream of awesomeness. If you’re reading this, I want to assure you that you’re also on a break. That being said, keep scrolling.

I don’t have a Facebook account, so I just go around announcing out loud what I’m doing at random times. I’ve got 3 followers so far, but I think 2 are cops. Facebook should have a limit on how many times you can change your relationship status. After 3 it should default to “Unstable”.

I fondly understand why they call it ‘social’ media. It’s because you have to be drunk to enjoy it. Nothing is worse than making someone watch a video you found hilarious and having them sit there in a stony agonizing silence. You suddenly feel instant regret.

In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people angry and is widely considered a bad move. Here’s the heart of the matter. The essence of social media is knowing your audience and engaging them in something they love.

If sanity was insane, would madness be wise?

  1. Oh so true. A friend of mine once said while we were watching two girls taking selfies (the same pose over and over again) for Instagram: “With every pic they take they lose more of their non existent personality.” Need to think about that now, every time I see someone taking selfies.
