Life on a Spectrum

I fall somewhere on the spectrum between Proverbs 31 and Tupac. Being different doesn’t mean being less, it means being you. My personality is energetic, fun, yet slightly psychotic. Want to know who your true friends are? Have a child with autism. 

Autism is as much a part of humanity as is the capacity to dream. If you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism. Mild autism doesn’t mean one experiences autism mildly. It means YOU experience their autism mildly. And it scares you. 

The past, like the future, is indefinite and exists only as a spectrum of possibilities. There is nothing impossible to those who try. Except for really really hard things, or easy things if you’re stupid. Autism is not a disability, it’s a different ability. Like a superhero in disguise. 

The rainbow and I had a falling out, it was a prism break. My ability to detach abruptly is scary at this point. I just be like “welp, that’s the end of that” lmao. I should also quit trying to play god in people’s lives. I’m not a control freak but…can I show you the right way to live?

I am not on the spectrum. I am the spectrum. I like to make people laugh, seeing as everyone else has a hard time cracking me up. I live vicariously through the hearty chuckles of my friends. Laughter is indeed the best medicine, except when treating diarrhea. 

I admit that my level of weirdness is above the national average, but I’m comfortable with that. I have CDO. It’s like OCD, except the letters are in alphabetical order, as they should be. So I should simply tell a child to “calm down” when they’re having a meltdown?

Omg, why couldn’t I think of that? You’re a life saver!

    Beyond Normal In Any Sense

    of the Word Other than

    Profoundly Strange

    Yet It’s True at 12 Years
    Old Jenny at 16 From around
    The Block Who Used to Walk With
    me to the City Park to Play Tennis

    Took my Glasses Off one Day and
    Told me i Looked Like an Artist

    Bluntly Put i Was mostly
    Tuned into Her Summer
    Attire Without A Sport-Bra

    Yep Just a Tank Top to Play Tennis
    Yet True She Wore Short Shorts too

    It’s True in Middle School i Wrote Plays
    For Drama and Comedy And Even Won a
    Christmas Story Competition For Two Home
    Rooms and 80 Students Back in 8th Grade

    i Had no Clue Where the Words Came From
    i Felt Possessed by Some Kind of Holy Spirit

    Yet The Toxic Patriarchy Was Great Bullied
    By the So-Called Christian Onward Marching
    First Baptist Little Soldier Boys For Even Daring to SMiLe

    Even in This
    ‘Orange Town’
    Back Then Yet You
    See Many of Our Modern
    Super Heroes Are Sourced
    By Authors Once Bullied ThiS WaY
    For Their Spectrum-Like Behaviors

    Ah Yes Sweet Revenge Through Comics ThiS WaY

    And It’s True ‘The Revenge of the Nerds’ Prophecy Came
    True on the Big Screen as Now We LiVE iN A Zuckerberg
    And Gates Systemizing World Online as Only Avatars of Words

    And The Such
    Without A Real
    Flesh and Blood Body

    Anyway i Was Determined
    to SMiLe Free All i Had to Do
    Was Become 6 Scale Stronger
    Than the Average ‘Orange Man’

    And Leg Press 1540 Pounds Just 12 Reps
    Yep Warming Up at the Military Gym Still
