The Nothingness of Nothing

You’ve come into the world with nothing and the purpose of your life is to make something out of nothing. Doing nothing is very hard to do, you never know when you’re finished. There’s nothing funny about happy people. I don’t know, you just look at a situation or a life, and you kind of pick the areas of conflict and delve there, because that’s where the story is. If someone has been married for 20 years, that’s great, but it’s not that funny. Now if you had two ex-wives, you see there’s already a story there.

I finally discovered what’s wrong with my brain. On the left side, there’s nothing right, and on the right side, there is nothing left. When you ask me what I am doing today and I say “nothing” it does not mean that I am free. It means I am doing nothing. Yesterday I did nothing, and today I’m finishing what I did yesterday. I have tried to know absolutely nothing about a great many things, and I have succeeded fairly well. The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing, and then they marry him. And that’s why my brand advertisement of myself is “I will bore you to death.”

What’s the point of it all? Not to sound suicidal, but I don’t see the essence of life. All this stress and we end up dying one day. Why? Why did we even have to live in the first place? The big man up there put us in a world of sin to prove ourselves worthy of heaven when we could all just remain there and be singing hallelujah with Gabriel and the other Angels every day. I didn’t even ask to be here, why would you bring me here without my permission and force me to take care of myself after a certain period.

Honestly, I feel violated. Why did no one ask for my opinion before pushing me into existence? People usually say they want to be better in their next world. Or still, meet their families or friends. But I really don’t want a next world. I want to rest, please. Human existence is nothing but a Cosmic Joke; a long road that leads to nowhere. Life is full of suffering, sorrow, and then Death! As humans we have been brainwashed into living in a time that isn’t here, we all feel this way because we spend all our time.

Sometimes I fear my unborn kids will ask these questions. And I’d have no answer because I have the same questions in my head. Hence, I get skeptical about birthing children. “There has to be more to life,” says a man that’s only being here for about 280,000 years on a planet that’s 4.6 billion years, existing in a universe that’s 14 billion years old. I wonder if the dinosaurs had thoughts like these 65 million years ago before going extinct. There are a lot of unanswered questions.

Nothing matters. We are all cockroaches. Wildbeats dying by the river bank. Dog eat dog. Nothing we do has any lasting meaning. What we do lives and dies out with the people around us. Why bother making an impact? I have noticed that even people who claim everything is predetermined and that we can do nothing to change it look before they cross the road. Rabbits jump and they live for 8 years. Dogs run and they live for 15 years. Turtles do nothing and they live for 150 years.

  1. This is an entire mood, and one I fear many will never be able to comprehend let alone accept. This mood a blanket I’m smothered & yet comforted in, limited & limitless, lost & found, I love this mood this blanket. This void of everything and nothing at all.

  2. You always make my day!
Surprisingly, I ask the same questions 😀 Here’s what I think, we are here to just enjoy the ride. But what happens is that we think that we have to do something ‘more’ than that and then we complicate it all. So stop doing nothing, it’s exhausting 😀 Do what brings you chills!

  3. I think there is so much to appreciate about “doing nothing”, and while some may think it is boring/lazy, actually when we are constantly busy, it can lead us to miss noticing small but beautiful things about the world, other people and ourselves.

  4. You should believe me Gottfried that indirectly and directly you motivate a lot of bloggers to motivate others. This point is not so common.

  5. Hello Gottfried and many thanks for your excellent post:) It’s important, from time to time, to do nothing, but as soon as it becomes a habit it’s a burden, like with happiness!
In any case, we should reflect more ,despite the fact that we live without being asked, and that is not doing nothing, but hard!
Ok, you say, if I understand well, that the world is there, where the news tell us, but I am convinced that even in small quiet or uninteresting regions, there are people, who have a sense of life by trying to make a living or by reflecting about their lives and maybe reading more than consuming!
    All the best Martina
