A Fresh Start

There’s something incredibly hopeful about a fresh start. Somehow, a scrubbed house smells like a fresh start. Life is like a book. Some chapters are sad, some are happy and some are exciting. But if you never turn the page, you will never know what the next chapter holds. As for me, I’ve burnt my life’s book. No more chapters. Just vibes.

You may have a fresh start any moment you choose. Because this thing called ‘failure’ is not falling down but staying down. Respect your parents. They passed school without Google. Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet? I mean, it’s nice to think but I’m too busy making mistakes that will last a lifetime. Seriously, I hope she doesn’t keep the baby.

Take the first step in blind faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. You might miss your step but that’s okay. Falling down the staircase is not fatal, according to my sauces. The problem with motivation is that you’re only fired up for a few seconds. If I could wish for a superpower it would be super-speed. To complete all that my five second motivated self allows me.

Eat healthy. You know when you buy a bag of salad and it gets all brown and soggy? Cookies don’t do that. Here’s to having a fresh start at binge eating, boozing and slacking off. I’ll try to stay off soda this year, hopefully it takes a hint and stays away from me. It’s difficult to maintain a healthy diet when all healthy food tastes like sorrow. If grilled turkey is the reason I don’t get to experience long life then so be it.

Be beautiful. Beauty is also about the way you move, speak and express yourself. Sometimes, the way some of you talk is boring and ugly. Fix up. Beauty is also about good health, warmth, spontaneity and charisma. Now take a long hard look at yourself, are you beautiful?

I don’t know where I’m going from here but I promise it won’t be boring. Wake up early. Drink coffee. Work hard. Be ambitious. Keep your priorities straight, your mind right and your head up. Do well, live well and dress really well. Do what you love, love what you do. It’s time to start living. You’ll be dead soon.

Fake it till you make it. Too easy for your boss to fire you. Then find a new job and start faking all over again. To improve is to change. To be perfect is to change often. Today I close the door to my past, open the door to my future, take a deep breath and step into a new life. If at first you don’t succeed…

then skydiving definitely isn’t for you

  1. To improve is to change. To be perfect is to change often. I jot down this one. Being motivated really makes me feel I could even have superpowers at that moment, sometimes I say I hope this won’t get me killed lol.

  2. 😂 the ending though. You’ll know skydiving isn’t for you, but then you’d be dead.

Thanks for always giving us something to look forward to Mondays for.

    Here’s to doing more stuff

  3. As always your sauces stir fry ideas and then you present them on a big white plate like they do at Tokara where only fine dining and wine pairing is served, in about seven courses. You think you will still be hungry when you leave the establishment; the bits they decorate the centre of the plate with seem unable, even if willing, to fill your tummy. And then you struggle to finish the tiny main course, but you can always make room for the desert, which is a work of art propped up by cream cheese or ice cream and a flower of some sort, edible, but why spoil it.

    Happy new beginnings.

When I was fiddling with my new year post I had a proper panic attack. I used to think that feeling was just extreme homesickness. I now know it is blind panic and my desire to escape always involves perhaps dying. Like now, please.

But God leaves me comfortable, living in luxury and … how bad can that be?

Keep the baby. They grow up and will love you even if no one else does. No. Your dog does not count. Your dog is programmed to love you. Your children like to pretend you died and left them money that arrives on time each month until life smacks them in the chops a few times. Then they will care for you forever.

  4. Too much thinking going on there and not enough living spontaneously. As for sky-diving, if you need that ‘Hey, look at me Ma, I’m flying’ moment you know in your heart you should just go into an ashram at the top of a mountain somewhere in Tibet and stay there. Meantime, Happy New Year.
