Taking a Break

The devil works hard but Banter Republic works harder. Every Monday I’m here doing my best to add some color to your miserable little life. And for what? Under 200 comments? This isn’t why Rosa Parks sat on the bus. Martin Luther and the brothers marched so that one day a little girl in India will read my jokes and share them with her confused parents.

Sometimes when we take a break, we find that solutions then present themselves. Stop calling them for a bit and maybe you don’t have to argue every day anymore. I had a girlfriend once, and then we broke up. Our break-up was due to religious differences. She thought she was God, I didn’t.

I need a break from my own thoughts. The other day I was having an internal debate with myself on who I’d save if there was a fire; the baby or the wife. An argument for the baby, it’s sweet and makes googly eyes at me. The downside is that it’s not potty-trained. As for the wife, she talks me to death but her meals are great. So I choose the wife. We can always make another one.

Almost everything will work again if you unplug with for a few minutes. It works for most devices, except for a life support machine. Actually, the life support still worked after. Unfortunately, we lost grandpa to the experiment. I won’t miss him much, he wasn’t great at giving advice.

Relax. Nothing is under control. You’re spinning in a spherical ball lost in orbit, pretending to be in control is borderline foolishness. If you’re burnt out and struggling, you don’t need more productivity. NOPE. What you really need is a break. Leave the kids with your parents and disappear for a few years. Find yourself.

I’m taking a break from social media so that I can focus on being uninformed. Facebook back in the day was a place where two bored people could fall in love and break up without ever seeing each other. I need more people to go outside and touch grass. All this land mass and you choose to stay indoors? Pathetic

How tired? There are two types of tired. One that requires rest, and one that requires peace. One is physical and the other is mental. And a third hardly spoken about, that requires death. So a combination of the two? Hence, “Rest in Peace.”

When someone asks me, “What is wrong?” I simply reply with “I’m just tired.” And they agree; they say to go take a nap. But you see, this exhaustion is not something simply resolved by sleeping. I cannot simply shut my eyes and wake up okay. I need a break from my brain, my heart, my life. I just need to go away for a little while. No, I’m not suicidal.

Don’t call me!

      1. What will the internet blogsphere do without your weekly sarcasm? Two hundred comments is a lot! A blockbusting success for a blog. Most people are lucky if they get one comment. Yes, writing often goes unappreciated, but there will be posts that people take notice.

        1. Oh, I exaggerated that bit a lot. I live for the comments. It’s the reason I try to respond to every single one of them.

This blog is great because of the community. I love it here 🥰

  1. In my experience, having a debate with yourself is always a bad idea. It leaves you tired without any answers. I take a nap instead.

  2. I heard this on social media that giving yourself a break is actually productive because, it’s what keeps you going. Now I take a break all day everyday, imagine how productive I’m being!

  3. Wow! I will miss your sense of humor, not you, just your special sense of humor…
But, I understand you need a break, holidays or a relaxing time. Well, if you want to visit my blog to say hello before you go, welcome. The other day, I was laughing, reading one of your comments about a bad character of my story. Enjoy your time and be happy friend.
    Keep well.
