Settling Down

I could settle down but I can’t settle. Some people are settling down, some people are settling, some have been settled and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies. If you’re not willing to risk the unusual, you will settle for the ordinary. Whatever happened to settling up?

At my age, I’m at a point where I’d rather watch Netflix and order take out than party. I prefer people who give constructive criticism, rather than lie to save my feelings. The goal remains to travel the world and learn as much as humanly possible. Happy. Unbothered. Disciplined. Glowing. It’s meant to be. It will be.

Are you really happy or just really comfortable? Dudes that are under six feet tall and don’t have any facial hair are always trying to flirt. Settle down young lady. Happiness is excitement that has found a settling down place, but there is always a little corner that keeps flapping around. Don’t rush and never settle.

Every man has to settle down eventually. You know why you have to settle down eventually? Because you don’t want to be the old guy at the club. You know what I’m talking about. Every club you go into, there’s always some old guy. He’s not really that old, just too old to be in the club. Don’t be that guy.

Men don’t settle down for the right woman. They settle down because they’re finally ready for it. Whatever woman they’re dating when they get ready is the one they settle down with, not necessarily the best one or the prettiest, just the one who happened to be on hand when the time got to be right. Unromantic but true.

If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for. If she can’t read your mind

  6. That penultimate paragraph is it. You just have to settle it in your heart that you’re not the ideal choice, you’re the available one. Sad but true.
