Breaking Trust

Breaking someone’s trust is like crumpling up a perfect piece of paper. You can smooth it over, but it will never be the same again. Unless you iron it. I’m not upset that you lied to me; I’m upset that from now on, I can’t believe you. A dog will look down when they have done wrong, but a snake will look you right in the eyes.

Trust can be a funny thing sometimes. It takes forever to build, yet it’s broken in a second. If every time you disagree, you zoom out and begin to question everything, you will drive yourself mad. And it will be deserved. The ultimate betrayal isn’t when someone else lets you down, but when you let yourself down by being a wuss.

Everyone suffers at least one bad betrayal in their lifetime. It’s what unites us. The trick is not to let it destroy your trust in others when that happens. Don’t let them take that from you. When someone breaks your trust, don’t feel stupid for trusting them. You didn’t do anything wrong; they’re just evil.

Stop asking me to trust you while I’m still coughing up water from the last time you let me drown. You stabbed me and pretended you were the one bleeding. Remember, there are two sides to every story. Kind of like your face. Some people don’t knock; they just enter, stir drama, and rearrange the furniture.

I don’t believe (in) people. We live in a world that is built on empty promises constructed by liars. They called you a “leader of tomorrow”. You’re 40 now, tomorrow is here, and you haven’t even led a woman to the altar. Never trust a man who says “the last thing I wanna do is hurt you”. It’s still on his list, it’s just the last thing.

How can I trust you if you keep running away every time I untie you? At what point does Stockholm Syndrome actually kick in? Do you even love me? “Trust the process” Pffft. Does the process know we’re trusting it? Betrayal is common for women with no conscience. If she isn’t in love with your ordinariness, she’s not the one.

To be fair, no one is.
