The gift of Family

Some family trees bear an enormous crop of nuts. Our shared family trait is crazy. If your family doesn’t make fun of your struggles then are they even family? Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city. One day I can tell my grandkids I’m older than touch screen devices and watch the look on their faces.

Family is like an annoying itch you cannot scratch. Every mom understands that no one in the family appreciates that they stay up all night thinking about them. In family life, love is the oil that eases the friction. The cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings harmony. Go to bed mom, you’re not going to change anything.

Family. A little bit crazy, a little bit loud, and a whole lot of love. Hurt me, you’re going to feel pain. Hurt my best friend, you’re going to need an ambulance. Hurt my family…. I’m going to need a shovel and a bean bag. I know you’re wondering about the bean bag, I’ll need to rest after shoveling all that dirt.

The secret of a happy marriage remains a secret. Families are like fudge; sweet with a couple of nuts. Having a child makes you a parent; having two, you’re a referee. Everybody knows how to raise children, except the people who have them. I don’t have to look up my family tree, because I know that I’m the sap.

A family reunion is an effective form of birth control. In my family, crazy doesn’t skip a generation. My family is temperamental. Half temper, half mental. Remember, as far as everyone knows we are a nice, normal family. Knowing your family so well, you can tell who’s coming down the stairs by the sound of their footsteps.

I sustain myself with the love of family. Family is where life begins and love never ends. There’s nothing like a family vacation to make you appreciate a bit of separation. Smartness runs in my family. When I went to school, I was so smart my teacher was in my class for five years.

Strangers think I’m great. My friends think I’m eccentric. My family knows that I am completely insane. In my family if you’re normal then you’re adopted. In this house we are thankful. We give second chances. We give hugs. We laugh a lot. We do loud really well. We never give up. We love. And if you’re being naughty…

You get smacked
