Saying “no” is an art form, often best delivered with a hint of humor to avoid guilt. It’s only by saying NO that you can concentrate on the things that are really important. You can be a good person with a kind heart and still say no. Don’t let guilt eat you up. 

Here are some ways to politely say no. “I’ll have to take a rain check,” “I’m flattered, but I’ll have to sit this one out,” or my personal favorite, “I’m sorry, I’m unable to fit this in”. I love “I would love to say yes, but I actually wouldn’t love to say yes”. All these work if you just smile. 

By saying no, it becomes easy to protect your time and still keep things light. “That sounds like fun, but I’m going to be extremely busy not doing that” would crush anyone. I tried to say no to gin but it is 40% stronger than me. Always say no to doing things. 

My best month is No-vember. An annual event where I say no to everything. Don’t even ask. To be happy is to wisely use the power of saying NO to some people. Don’t be afraid to disappoint people who only conveniently remember you when they want something from you. 

“No” is a complete sentence. It does not require justification or explanation. When you say yes to others, make sure you aren’t saying no to yourself. If you say yes too often, you’ll likely fall into the trap of saying yes to the good while simultaneously saying no to the best. 

There is no angry way to say ‘no bubbles’. If I ever say, “Do you want me to be honest?” Say No. Well you know what they say: if you don’t have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me. If you’re badly in need of help and you conclude I’m the only one left to help…

How about no?
