If you’ve been following banter republic since the summer of 2018, you’ll know that this is a milestone post. So today you get to learn about me. The things that make me special. Can’t believe I’ve wasted an entire paragraph prepping you for this post, but anyways…

Banter Republic is my way of making fun of you without having to say it to your face. It’s your fault for visiting this blog to be insulted every other Monday. The idea for this blog came to me one cold rainy Tuesday. I woke up in cold sweats to drink ice cold water at 2 am and it hit me!

Banter prefers logic over emotion. Logic is very straightforward. With logic you can move from point a to point b without any ambiguity. Emotions are all over the place. Logic suggests that you should find out what you said to make me upset in the first place, emotion argues that we should focus on my overreaction. Cruel. 

If you don’t tell me, I won’t ask. I didn’t ask, because I was hoping you’d desire to tell me yourself. The best kind of gossip is the kind that doesn’t need any motivation. But to be a good gossip, you need to be able to map out the parts of the story I would fancy. Avoid feelers. 

Empathy is expensive. I laugh when you fall. I make jokes about you crying. It’s coping mechanism to not overreact to the current situation. In doing so, I would typically under react. You don’t expect me to understand where the shoe pinches. Why wear shoes? Switch to slippers. 

I was sent here to be your messiah. To encourage you to say your thoughts out loud. Not so it helps our relationship, but you get to hear first hand how foolish you sound. Above all, I make fun of you because I genuinely care about you and it’s your heart of gold I love the most.

  3. Just say you like gold, not my heart of gold, albeit the heart of gold might be deceptive

    Who says the slippers is better than the shoe that pinches? Seems a nail hasn’t stubbed your feet through the slippers whilst walking right?

    Congratulations on your #400 post, more ink to your pen, more banter to your thoughts, more folks to read and choose logic over emotion.
