Penalty

Penalty shootouts have nothing to do with football. It’s like shooting poor little ducks at a fairground. The death penalty not only takes away the person strapped to the electric chair, it also takes a little bit of the humanity in each of us as we stand there and watch.

A penalty is a cowardly way to score. Unfortunately, it still counts. Life should be more like hockey. When someone pisses you off, you just beat the shit out of them then sit in the penalty box for five minutes. A five minute penalty for a throat punch seems fair to me.

Everyone knows it’s unfair to have games decided by penalties. Yet only those who have the courage to take a penalty miss them. One of the penalties for refusing to precipitate in politics is that you end up being governed by your interiors. And it will be all your fault.

You can take 100 penalties in training, but when you go out on that pitch in front of all those people and the television cameras, it’s completely different. It’s a different kind of pressure. Tears are the penalty for pressure. It’s law that we should pay for all that we enjoy.

I support the death penalty, but I also think there has to be no margin for error. Luck has to be on your side. The main factor in a penalty shootout is luck again. You need to practice, stay really calm, and focused. But the biggest thing you need to succeed ultimately is sheer luck.

Now, shoot your shot.
